CANCOM supplies EU institutions for foreign and security policy with modern IT infrastructure

  • CANCOM wins EU framework contract for IT equipment with the “European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments”
  • Numerous international EU foreign and security policy institutions can now order modern standardised IT equipment from CANCOM
  • The project budget amounts to around 20 million euros

The European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) has contracted CANCOM to provide IT equipment and supplies for the execution of civilian crisis management operations. Numerous EU agencies, special representatives and missions stationed around the world will thus be able to access essential IT infrastructure components via CANCOM. The project officially started on 22 September 2022 and the implementation of the first measures is already underway.

The FPI is the first point of contact in the EU for threats to international security, helping countries not only to manage crises but also to maintain peace, security, law and order. In this role, it monitors elections, promotes democracy, human dignity and the rule of law around the globe. It is also responsible for all financial and operational aspects of the EU’s external policy – such as IT procurement.

Under the framework agreement with CANCOM, a total of 20 selected EU institutions, special representatives and missions for foreign and security policy stationed in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, North, East and West Africa, as well as Central and West Asia, can purchase modern standardised IT solutions. These include computer, server and storage systems, network equipment, uninterruptible power supply, printing equipment, telephone and video conferencing equipment as well as all accessories and related consumables.

The aim is to enable and significantly support civilian foreign policy missions in the areas of peace and conflict prevention as well as democracy and the rule of law through a modern IT infrastructure. To this end, the European Commission has earmarked almost €20 million for the next two years.

“CANCOM with its dedicated Public Team is a long-standing digitization partner to the public sector, supporting international organizations such as EU institutions or UN agencies with an extensive portfolio of IT solutions and services,” says Emmanuel Finance, Managing Director at CANCOM Public BV. “With the commissioning by the FPI, we receive another important public mandate, illustrating our competencies, differentiators and trusted relationship with the public sector.”
