  • CANCOM is the first major company to join since membership in the AI Federal Association was opened up
  • Focus on the secure, sovereign, and scalable use of AI for businesses
  • Active exchange and participation in shaping standards, best practices, and governance for responsible AI

CANCOM has joined the Bundesverband der Unternehmen der Künstlichen Intelligenz in Deutschland e.V. (“KI Bundesverband”), Germany’s largest network for artificial intelligence. In doing so, CANCOM underscores its strategic commitment to sovereign, trustworthy, and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) “Made in Germany.” The goal is to strengthen the exchange of standards, regulations, and best practices, to contribute practical experience in the application of AI, and to support companies in the secure and legally compliant implementation of AI.

The KI Bundesverband recently opened its membership to large enterprises with their own AI development. CANCOM was the first large enterprise to be accepted in this context. Key factors in this decision include CANCOM’s extensive expertise in AI development and its long-standing experience in implementing productive AI use cases. This includes an internal AI team established several years ago, as well as in-depth know-how in data platforms, AI infrastructure, and the secure, scalable operation of corresponding solutions.

“With CANCOM, we are gaining a company that views AI not as a buzzword, but as a strategic foundation. As the first large enterprise in our network, CANCOM is sending a strong signal: sovereign, responsible AI ‘Made in Germany’ is not a niche topic—it is the standard by which the industry must measure itself,” explains Prof. Dr. Vanessa Just, Deputy Managing Director of the German AI Association.

“Germany has enormous potential in the field of artificial intelligence. We want to not only support the development of AI in Germany but also actively shape it, thereby helping to ensure that innovation, economic strength, and digital sovereignty go hand in hand. Only in this way can the full potential of AI be realized in Germany,” says Oliver Parpart, Director of Business Development & Mainframe, Cloud & Datacenter at CANCOM.

Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Focus

Companies are increasingly facing the challenge of not just using AI in isolated instances, but integrating it into their IT strategy in a structured, secure, and scalable manner. This is not just about individual technologies; what is crucial is the holistic integration of AI into business processes, IT architectures, and organizational structures.

CANCOM places AI at the center of its strategic focus and sees itself as an active driver of AI transformation for small and medium-sized businesses and beyond. The company consistently drives the development and deployment of AI and, as a pioneer, supports its customers throughout the entire AI journey—from strategy through development and integration to the operation, security, and governance of AI solutions. This also includes modern data platforms, high-performance AI infrastructures, and concepts for compliance and digital sovereignty.

Membership in the German AI Association supports this approach. Through dialogue with companies, technology providers, and research institutions, practical standards for responsible AI use can be developed, and regulatory requirements can be addressed at an early stage. The association sees itself as a central platform for dialogue between business, science, and politics and actively incorporates the perspectives of AI practitioners into regulatory and standardization processes.

About the KI Bundesverband

The members of the AI Federal Association are committed to ensuring that this technology is applied in accordance with European and democratic values and that Europe achieves digital sovereignty. To this end, the Federal Republic of Germany and the EU must become an attractive AI hub for entrepreneurs, where a willingness to take risks is valued and the spirit of innovation meets the best possible conditions.
