Healthcare conferencing system with 4K image quality to promote interdisciplinary exchange for complex cases
Simplified and time-saving collaboration promotes quality of medical care
Patients benefit from fast and informed treatment decisions
CANCOM is the first service provider in Germany to launch a comprehensive hybrid tumor board with the Cisco WebEx video conferencing solution. CANCOM will debut its tumor board at DMEA 2023, Europe’s leading event for digital health, from April 25-27.
As a long-standing digitalization partner of the healthcare industry, CANCOM delivers specialized healthcare solutions and services. With the CANCOM tumor board, the IT service provider offers a telemedicine platform that displays diagnoses such as imaging, vital signs or laboratory values in high 4K resolution. This makes it possible to evaluate findings regardless of location and improves interdisciplinary communication of therapeutic measures for cancer patients, all the way to surgery planning. This holistic approach promotes comprehensive and individualized care for oncology patients regardless of location.
Enormous time savings due to elimination of long commutes and travel
Case conferences and coordination of individual treatment plans used to be very time-consuming, as technical obstacles meant that exchanges usually had to take place in person at a central location. Long distances in large facilities or long journeys for inter-site meetings were the rule. CANCOM’s tumor board saves hospitals this valuable time, which is vital for cancer patients. The telemedicine platform makes it easy for doctors from different specialties at different locations to connect. This makes it easy to view and discuss diagnostics, imaging, laboratory values and other data in high resolution.
4K resolution of all findings and integrated live surgical planning
Discussions via the tumor board are in high sound and image quality. Diagnostics such as imaging or vital signs are prepared and post-processed with the help of software, clearly provided and displayed in 4K resolution. Doctors can therefore make an informed and individualized treatment decision just as if they were sitting together in one place. After diagnosis, it is also possible to plan the surgery directly via the tumor board, if required.

International collaboration through real-time translations
With the tumor board, CANCOM offers a full-featured conferencing system that allows physicians to collaborate optimally. Via video screen and split screening, doctors can see each other and various data at a glance. The display of translations and transcripts in real time ensures optimal interdisciplinary exchange in multiple languages.
Tumor board as a Service
Bringing all this data together in the hybrid tumor board at the highest technical level enables comprehensive analysis of each case and personalized treatment decisions for the patient. Since the shared patient data is highly sensitive, it is protected against unauthorized access in the best possible way by end-to-end encryption. If a facility decides to use a tumor board from CANCOM, the IT service provider takes over the complete set-up and equips the designated room accordingly. The tumor board can also be used as a managed service, including hardware.
Further functions in planning
“The daily challenges in hospitals are currently manifold. IT solutions such as the CANCOM tumor board, which are specially tailored to the healthcare sector, make work easier, especially in times of staff shortages: Communication between doctors as well as patient care is improved and doctors’ time is saved”, explains Gerhard Hacker, Senior Manager Healthcare at CANCOM. “Other functions, such as a digital video consultation, will complement CANCOM’s telehealth portfolio to continue optimizing everyday hospital life.”
Presentation in live demos
CANCOM is offering interested parties the opportunity to take a detailed look at the tumor board. To this end, the IT service provider has set up a test board in Munich that shows an all-round view. An appointment can be made here. CANCOM will also be presenting the board in live demos to trade visitors at the DMEA and the Capital City Congress.
