Review 2022: Numerous awards for managed service innovations from CANCOM

  • Experts from market research, the trade press, and customer companies rated CANCOM Managed Services and XaaS offerings as market leaders several times in 2022
  • In particular, recent innovations such as the XaaS portfolio and managed services for public cloud offerings such as Managed SAP on Azure were highlighted
  • A variety of further managed service innovations are already being prepared for 2023

The trend to obtain information technology as a service from the cloud exactly as needed, thus making the costs of the IT infrastructure more flexible, continues to grow. With its Managed Service innovations, CANCOM meets such current requirements of IT users with pinpoint accuracy. And CANCOM is also one of the leading providers of classic managed services in the areas of hosting or networks in numerous market segments. In 2022, this assessment was agreed upon by well-known analysts from ISG or techconsult, as well as by trade media such as Computerwoche and ChannelPartner, and in numerous studies by existing customers of CANCOM. For 2023, further Managed Service innovations are in the pipeline, with which CANCOM intends to further expand its market position.

CANCOM is the only system integrator in this country that is also positioned as a Managed Service Provider (MSP) and as a Network Service Provider (NSP) under one roof. This unique market position is also reflected in the wide range of market segments analyzed in the past year. It ranges from classic managed hosting and network services to highly innovative XaaS offerings such as CANCOM SD-WAN as a Service or Security Operation Center (SOC) as a Service.

Freedom of choice in IT sourcing: private cloud, public cloud – or both?

For example, the ISG study “Next-Gen Private/Hybrid Cloud – Data Center Solutions & Services 2022” ranks CANCOM among the “leaders” in the segments “Managed Hosting for Midmarket” and “Managed Services for Midmarket”. In addition to private cloud structures from CANCOM data centers in Germany or with remote management of CANCOM’s customer-owned data centers, companies also have the option of obtaining managed services from CANCOM based on public cloud services – for example, CANCOM Managed SAP on Azure. ISG sees important advantages for SMEs in particular in using both cloud variants via CANCOM’s own Marketplace. The CANCOM Cloud Marketplace makes it easy to integrate and manage a customized, hybrid mix of private and public cloud. The portfolio includes services from hyperscalers such as AWS, Microsoft or Google.

CANCOM’s existing customers also share this assessment: In the “Professional User Rating: Managed Service 2022” of techconsult they rated the CANCOM Managed Services they use and voted the hybrid IT service provider “Champion” in the “Managed Cloud & Datacenter Services” category. CANCOM also achieved a silver award in the “Managed Service Provider” category in the reader vote for the Service Provider Awards 2022 from the Vogel IT Medien-Akademie. And in the customer survey for the best Managed Service Provider 2022 conducted by Computerwoche and ChannelPartner, CANCOM achieved a respectable third place in the category above one billion euros in annual revenue. Existing customers rated the broad service portfolio, short response times, easy scalability of services, and compliance with SLAs as particularly positive.

High-speed network for optimum IT performance

As an NSP, CANCOM also has its own core backbone and thus a high-performance basic infrastructure for data traffic in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Particularly advantageous for enterprise customers is the option of obtaining comprehensive managed services with end-to-end SLA from CANCOM – including a managed network. It is therefore not surprising that CANCOM was declared the champion in the field of “Managed Network Services” in the customer evaluation in techconsult’s “Professional User Rating: Managed Service 2022“.

In addition to Managed Hosting, Managed Azure and Managed Network Services, the portfolio also includes security services based on the as-a-service approach, as the examples of SOC aaS, Firewall aaS or Endpoint Detection aaS demonstrate. Against the background of constantly growing cyber threats, cost-efficient security services that can be used exactly as needed are enormously important. The authors of the ISG study “Cybersecurity Solutions & Services 2022” see it the same way. According to the study, CANCOM is excellently positioned with its comprehensive cyber security portfolio, including as-a-service offerings such as CANCOM SOC aaS: Here, CANCOM offers security services from Germany with its own Security Operations Center – SOC for short – that cover the entire life cycle of a security incident, from threat identification to resolution. “CANCOM has an innovative XaaS portfolio that the hybrid IT service provider is constantly developing, especially in SOC solutions,” is the verdict of the experts in the ISG Provider LensTM study “Next-Gen Private/Hybrid Cloud – Data Center Solutions & Services 2022“.

Exciting outlook for 2023

“We are very pleased that in the past year market researchers, IT trade media, and above all our customers have on so many occasions rated CANCOM’s portfolio of Managed Services and XaaS as leading in the market,” said Petra Trost-GĂĽrtner, Executive Vice President at CANCOM responsible for Managed Services. “And further innovations and investments are planned for 2023 to offer our customers sustainable benefits. So it will be especially worthwhile in the coming year to keep an eye out for further innovations from CANCOM in the area of Managed Services and XaaS with the involvement of our partners!”
