Munich - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, companies' IT environments must be monitored and ready to defend themselves in an emergency. In addition, there are increased compliance requirements due to the EU's Basic Data Protection Regulation and the IT Security Act for Critical Infrastructures. The basic requirements for modern IT security alone are hardly affordable with internal resources, especially for medium-sized companies. CANCOM therefore now offers IT security with maximum scope and availability from its new Security Operations Center (SOC) as a custom-fit service: SOC-as-a-Service.
As one of the leading German IT service providers and managed service providers, CANCOM is adding to existing range of IT security services, i.e. security support, managed security services and security-as-a-service, the SOC on top. "The combination of automated tool-based attack detection and CANCOM IT security experts creates a security offering that raises our customers' security standards to a whole new level," explains Frank Richter, Executive Vice President at CANCOM.
The cyber defense services delivered from the new SOC are aimed primarily at companies that cannot operate 24/7 attack monitoring and defense themselves, or do not want to because of the high internal effort involved. After an initial planning and set-up phase, the services can be obtained from CANCOM as a monthly service - and to an individually desired extent. CANCOM security analysts work hand in hand with the IT departments of the companies.
Combined expertise from CANCOM and IBM against cyber attacks
CANCOM's Security Operations Center permanently monitors the customer's IT environments. This is done not only automatically but always with the help of security analysts. Security incidents are not only reported technically, but also analyzed in greater depth and the threat level assessed. This analysis makes it possible to respond to attacks in a way that is precisely tailored to the IT environment being attacked. In addition, continuous vulnerability scanning of the customer's IT is available from the SOC in order to identify potential attack targets and close potential security gaps in a targeted manner. In this way, prevention and defense against attacks merge seamlessly.
The SOC-as-a-Service offering is supplemented by the monitoring and expert assessment of global IT security incidents and the inclusion of developments in the IT security industry. The security analysts are supported in this by IBM's leading security SIEM solution QRadar and the warnings and recommendations for action provided by IBM Security Intelligence. "For the development of the CANCOM Security Operations Center, IBM was the logical choice as the market leader for IT security, cyber security and threat intelligence. Moreover, with the planned integration of IBM Watson Predictive Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, our future security level will be continuously improved by the operation of the SOC," explains Oliver Schallhorn, Executive Vice President at CANCOM.
All services related to Cyber Defense Services are provided by CANCOM for German and international customers from Germany. For more information on the CANCOM Security Operations Center and Cyber Defense Services, please visit: https://www.cancom.com/xaas/security/cyber-defense-services/
