ISG Provider Lens study: Cybersecurity Solutions & Services from CANCOM leading the market once again

  • CANCOM strengthens leading market position of recent years in the areas of “Managed Security” and “Technical Security Services”
  • The Security Operations Center (SOC) in Germany and the Cybersecurity as a Service portfolio are particularly convincing to ISG analysts
  • As an IT service provider with a strong local presence, CANCOM has proven itself to be an ideal security partner for SMEs and beyond

According to the latest Provider LensTM study “Cybersecurity – Solutions and Services 2022” by leading market research company ISG, hybrid IT service provider CANCOM is once again among the top providers of “Managed Security Services” and “Technical Security Services”. With its comprehensive cybersecurity portfolio, including extensive as a service offerings and SOC operations from Germany, CANCOM convinced the ISG analysts for the third time in a row.

Organized cybercrime threatens companies’ ability to do business like never before. According to the digital association Bitkom, cyber sabotage, cyber espionage and data theft alone cause more than 220 billion euros in damage in Germany every year – with a strong upward trend. In view of the acute threat situation, corporate security therefore stands and falls with effective cyber defense.

In this context, the current ISG study highlights CANCOM as an ideal security partner – especially for medium-sized customers. The ISG analysts position the IT service provider in the top field in both the “Managed Security Services” and “Technical Security Services” categories.

Customized safety concepts for all customer segments

“The cybersecurity portfolio of CANCOM is very comprehensive and covers everything from planning and implementing to managed services,” said Frank Heuer, Principal Analyst at ISG, commenting on the Leader award in the Technical Security Services category. This category evaluates IT providers in terms of their integration competence of IT and OT security solutions and products, such as virus protection, cloud and data center security, identity and access management (IAM), data loss protection (DLP), network security, endpoint security, unified threat management (UTM), OT security, and secure access service edge (SASE), and others.

But it is not only medium-sized companies that CANCOM offers tailor-made security concepts to: “CANCOM serves a comprehensive range of topics and services for all target groups, and with its approach it also understands how to address the needs of its large customers, thus offering IT and cybersecurity solutions from a single source,” Heuer continued.

Strong partner for SMEs thanks to SOC operations in Germany

According to the market analysis, CANCOM is also in an excellent position when it comes to the operation and management of IT and OT by a Security Operations Center (SOC). With its Cyber Defense Services from its own SOC within Germany, the IT service provider can cover the entire life cycle of security incidents, from identification to resolution.

“This clearly meets the expectations of many midmarket customers,” explained Heuer. “The Managed Security Services and XaaS portfolio covers a broad spectrum of managed technologies and offers numerous services. Here it pays off that CANCOM has drawn up a very comprehensive roadmap for the further development of its portfolio,” he further elaborated, explaining CANCOM’s top position in the Managed Security Services category.

“IT security is becoming more complex. Hybrid work, multiple connectivity and the transformation to the cloud – all these trends have opened up new gateways for cybercriminals. On top of that, there are new EU data protection, compliance and IT security rules. Effective cyber defense is hardly affordable internally, especially for small and medium-sized companies,” Alexander Ernst, Director Network, Communication & Security at CANCOM, pointed out. “Accordingly, we are continuously expanding our cybersecurity portfolio with a clear focus on as-a-service offerings. Thanks to standardized and modular Security-as-a-Service packages, from SOC aaS to Firewall aaS to Endpoint Detection aaS, companies can outsource their entire IT security if required and fully secure their business. This saves them high costs and they don’t have to build up their own resources for this.”
