ISG Future of Work study: Workplace Services and Solutions from CANCOM enable secure mobile work in times of Corona

  • According to the ISG Provider Lens™ study “Future of Work”, CANCOM plays a strong leading role as one of the best providers of workplace services and solutions
  • With its offering in the area of “Workplace Strategy and Transformation” and the associated “Managed Digital Workplace Services”, the hybrid IT service provider has the solutions at hand that are in demand during the pandemic in order to remain capable of business
  • Case study: BORNACK, a leading systems supplier for fall protection, was only able to continue business operations during the Corona outbreak thanks to the Workplace Services of CANCOM

Companies are increasingly turning to the expertise of strong digitization partners when implementing new hybrid work models. Therefore, the market research company ISG has identified and positioned the most relevant IT service providers in the workplace services and solutions environment in its current study “Future of Work”. As an established player in the market, CANCOM is one of the leading companies for “Workplace Strategy and Transformation Services” and the associated “Managed Digital Workplace Services”. The case study of the medium-sized occupational safety provider BORNACK from near Heilbronn shows that such digital workplace concepts are business-critical for companies, for example to enable home offices in times of crisis.

As a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic companies must rethink their IT operating models and adapt them to the requirements of hybrid working. It is not only necessary to react to the current exceptional situation, but also to create a secure and attractive working environment in the long term. This should be able to be provided quickly and easily and be flexibly adaptable to changing conditions. At the same time, it should support productive work and reduce the complexity of the workplace for employees.

“CANCOM is a strong consulting services provider with an excellent track record in the German market”

According to analysts from the renowned technology research company ISG (Information Services Group), an important role in this transformation is played by cooperation with service providers that enable the development of company-wide IT workplace strategies and the transformation to these strategies – such as CANCOM. This is the conclusion reached in the current Provider Lens™ study “Future of Work – Services and Solutions Germany 2021”. In the market analysis, the Hybrid IT Service Provider occupies absolute top positions in the areas of “Workplace Strategy and Transformation Services” and “Managed Digital Workplace Services”. “In both areas, CANCOM is a strong consulting service provider with an excellent track record in the German market,” ISG concluded. CANCOM’s portfolio includes not only the creation of holistic IT workplace concepts for the new hybrid way of working, but also the implementation and round-the-clock operation of these. “With standardized and individual support, Managed Services and an XaaS package that includes ‘Workplace as a Service’, ‘Security as a Service’, ‘Unified Communications as a Service’, ‘Network as a Service’ and ‘Desktop as a Service’, CANCOM provides end-to-end support for its customers,” the ISG experts explained the company’s top ranking.

“The services we procure from CANCOM are vital to our survival”

How business-critical a modern workplace architecture can be for user companies, and what role virtual desktop infrastructure environments in particular play in this, is clearly illustrated by the success story of the medium-sized company BORNACK. Shortly before the start of the pandemic, the systems provider for fall protection had CANCOM develop and implement a company-wide digital workplace solution based on the CANCOM AHP Enterprise Cloud. The cloud-based “Workplace as a Service” model enables the 170 BORNACK users to flexibly access all work resources from anywhere and at any time.

“It was only because the introduction of the CANCOM AHP Enterprise Cloud had been completed shortly before the Corona outbreak that the workforce was able to simply continue working from home during the lockdown. Otherwise we would probably have had to close down temporarily in March 2020,” reported BORNACK Managing Director Ulrike Bornack, “The services we obtain from CANCOM, whether system integration, XaaS or Managed Services, are vital to our survival and are the basis for further expanding our business success.”

BORNACK obtains the CANCOM AHP Enterprise Cloud and other business-critical IT systems – such as “CANCOM Network as a Service” with WAN, LAN and WLAN for all four locations – as standardized XaaS and Managed Services. The systems are operated in a CANCOM-owned, certified high-security data center in Germany which is SLA-based and secured via a second, local data center. Further follow-up projects are already planned.

“Standardized workplace services eliminate the need for heavy investments in IT infrastructure”

According to ISG, demand is currently increasing for rapidly available, secure and scalable end-to-end XaaS and Managed Services such as those offered by CANCOM. For CANCOM COO Rüdiger Rath, this is not only due to the Corona pandemic. “Thanks to standardized workplace services, companies no longer have to invest in IT infrastructure themselves. This means they can reduce their fixed IT costs, obtain IT flexibly as a service and manage their workplace environment centrally and at the push of a button, so to speak. My goal as new COO at CANCOM is to expand our XaaS portfolio even further and adapt it to market requirements so that even more companies like BORNACK can benefit from it.”
