With a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, Rüdiger Rath, CEO of CANCOM, and Dr. Johann Bizer, Chairman of the Board of Dataport AöR, officially opened the CANCOM Service Factory Nord.
CANCOM is opening a new service factory in Norderstedt, near Hamburg, thereby expanding its nationwide infrastructure for IT lifecycle services.
The new location provides additional capacity for logistics, configuration, service coordination, and lifecycle management of IT workstations in northern Germany.
One of the first major projects involves equipping and supporting more than 100,000 IT workstations for Dataport.
CANCOM officially opened its new Service Factory in Norderstedt on September 16. Together with customers, partners, and representatives from business and politics, the company celebrated the grand opening of the new service and logistics center at a special event. Rüdiger Rath, CEO of CANCOM, and Dr. Johann Bizer, Chairman of the Board of Dataport AöR, officially opened the facility by symbolically cutting the red ribbon.
With the new Service Factory, CANCOM is expanding its nationwide infrastructure for IT lifecycle services and creating additional capacity for the deployment, configuration, and support of modern IT workstations. The facility complements the existing Service Factory in Jettingen-Scheppach, and together they form a high-performance north-south infrastructure for nationwide customer projects. With this opening, CANCOM marks the successful completion of the facility’s construction phase and is now officially transitioning to regular operations.
Grand Opening with Customers and Partners
During the opening ceremony, approximately 400 guests gained insights into the new location and the modern integration of logistics, device configuration, service coordination, and on-site technical support—which forms the foundation for the efficient implementation of large-scale workplace and rollout projects. Presentations and panel discussions highlighted current developments in workplace services, asset management, IT lifecycle services, and the modern digital workplace. The symbolic highlight was the joint opening by Rüdiger Rath and Dr. Johann Bizer: By cutting the red ribbon, both officially put the Service Factory into operation.
“Here, it becomes immediately apparent what high-performance structures and professional processes are necessary to reliably provide and support modern IT workstations on this scale. For us at Dataport, this is an important foundation for continuing to drive forward the digitization of public administration together with CANCOM. The new Service Factory in Norderstedt creates the right conditions for this,” says Dr. Johann Bizer, CEO of Dataport AöR.

New Capacities for IT Services in Northern Germany
In Norderstedt, CANCOM brings together key services across the IT lifecycle under one roof—from logistics and device configuration to service coordination, operational planning, and management of the technical field service. In the approximately 4,250-square-meter Service Factory, twelve automated conveyor lines and around 2,800 logistics storage slots enable the parallel configuration and deployment of large quantities of IT end devices. In the future, the site will be able to process up to 1,000 devices per day and configure up to 488 end devices simultaneously. The facility thus supports both large-scale rollout projects as well as replacement and refresh cycles. The integration of these services enables end-to-end, scalable processes—from device preparation to on-site installation and support at the customer’s location.
With the new facility, CANCOM is also expanding its staffing capacity in the region. In the future, up to 100 new jobs are planned in Norderstedt, including positions in logistics, configuration, service coordination, and technical field service.
“We are seeing high and steadily growing demand for lifecycle services. With the new Service Factory, we are therefore strategically expanding our capacities and creating the conditions to implement even large and complex customer projects efficiently and scalably. Together with our location in Jettingen-Scheppach, this creates a high-performance north-south infrastructure that allows us to combine regional proximity with scalable service processes. Today’s opening is therefore an important step for us in the further expansion of our service business,” says Rüdiger Rath, CEO of CANCOM.
More Than 100,000 IT Workstations for Dataport
Among the first major projects to benefit from the new capacities is the equipping and support of more than 100,000 IT workstations for Dataport. The contract, announced in the spring of 2026, will begin as early as September and includes not only the provision and configuration of end devices but also the coordination of services and on-site technical support. The project demonstrates the importance of scalable logistics and service processes for the digital transformation of public administration. By consolidating services at the new location, CANCOM can efficiently implement even large-scale workplace projects involving high volumes.
