- CANCOM and Cisco combine their strengths to provide schools with sustainable and holistic support and equipment for digitization
- The partnership focuses in particular on networking, security, communication, central device and user management, and reliable and secure IT operations
- Schools therefore benefit from scalable, digital education solutions – simple, fast and secure
CANCOM, the leading provider of digital education solutions, and Cisco, the world’s leading technology company, are entering into a strategic partnership to provide schools with digital solutions sustainably, holistically, and quickly. The partnership supports educational institutions in particular with ready-made solutions in the areas of networking, security, communications, and central device and user management. In this way, the two innovative technology companies create the technical basis for secure and trouble-free teaching with digital end devices – and, if required, also take over the reliable operation of the solutions at schools.
The common goal of the partnership is to provide turnkey and managed solutions for educational institutions nationwide that can also be established flexibly and modularly in existing structures. To this end, the two partners are cooperating with regional and communal IT service providers and data centers. This creates low-entry access to the use of digital end devices and content for teachers. “CANCOM and Cisco are united by the understanding that digital infrastructures and applications enable learning, teaching and collaboration regardless of time and place. We are accelerating the successful digital transformation in education by supporting schools in this process – not only with market-leading IT products, but also by designing digital education solutions that are tailored to the specific requirements in the education sector,” says RĂĽdiger Rath, COO at CANCOM about the partnership.
The school WLAN as a foundation for digital education
A future-proof network in the form of WLAN must be part of the basic equipment at schools so that digital teaching formats work in practice. Security, speed, flexibility, and reliability are key challenges here. CANCOM translates these into digital solutions and defines the requirements with a focus on endpoint and network security, device management (MDM), and a high-performance and capacitive network. In combination with Cisco’s leading technologies, this provides schools with modern and reliable network environments in which end devices of all kinds securely and in a controlled manner sustainably add a digital dimension to teaching while simultaneously protecting data and guarding against cyberattacks.
“With over 25 years of project experience in education, we know the specific challenges schools are facing. A wide variety of end devices from different manufacturers are used in everyday school life. Whether teachers or students, everyone must have equal access to educational formats in the interest of educational equity,” explains Georg Achterling, Director Sales Public Education at CANCOM. “In addition, the network must be reliable and performant at all times, even during the peak workloads of a school day, so that there are no disconnections. If these basic requirements are inadequately met, digital teaching cannot take place.”
Safe in the classroom, whether at school or at home
The protection of students and teachers is a top priority in all digital teaching formats. The handling of content and personal information in schools must be fully compliant with youth and data protection regulations at all times. This ranges from access to the network and individual access rights to securing end devices so that they can be used purposefully in the classroom. Likewise, the protection of data and devices through the early detection of cyber attacks is an indispensable component for safe teaching.
Flexible solutions for network and security
The offerings from CANCOM and Cisco are characterized in particular by the fact that implementation can take place very quickly and no high initial investment is required. Budgets are saved, while at the same time it is possible to react immediately even to short-term requirements.
With “Network as a Service” or “Security as a Service”, educational institutions obtain customized network or IT security services conveniently and turnkey as a service. These all-inclusive packages include network components from the world market leader Cisco as well as additional services such as installation, maintenance, servicing and operation, all of which are handled by CANCOM. Educational institutions need not worry about anything else. If needs change during a school year, the solution can be easily scaled and adapted to current requirements. This means that schools without their own staff resources can benefit from professional network services and maximum security.
